Raccoons

 Pop caught a raccoon a few weeks ago.  It was a girl raccoon and we got to watch Pop release it.  When it was released, it went straight to the water and we got to see it swim and hide.  We released it at Massac Creek.

These are two raccoon prints at Massac Creek that we found yesterday.  We think it was the same raccoon that we released.

This is my list about all kinds of things that ants do

    
 

  

1.  Three eyes in front

2.       About the cow-the ants pat their bellies and lick the milk off of them (called aphids).

3.       Wasps eat ants.

4.       Birds eat ants.

5.       How long a queen can live

6.       Worker ants (and the rest) live 7 years.

7.       Doctor ant, nurse ants, worker ants, ants who take care of babies, major ants (major ants mean soldier ants)

8.       All of the ants are sisters and brothers.

9.       Boys only live for one day.

10.   Cowgirls-ladybugs eat the aphids.

11.   The ant gave this boy food fed out of her mouth.  The boy said, “mmm..what was that?”  The ant said, “slug.”

12.   The ants have pets.

13.   Other ant colonies steal babies. 

14.   There are red ant colonies and carpenter ant colonies, black ant colonies, engineer ants, nurse ants, nannies, doctor ants, a Queen, and scouts.

15.   Ants hibernate

16.   Robber ants steal food.

17.   The beetles without eyes give a honey taste.

Cute owl's

I think that's the Mama Owl cleaning her baby.  The baby is so so cute.  I wonder how many babies there are.  There was another picture of owls like these and there were two owls and one of them looked younger and they were flying.  Click on the picture because if you do, there will be a whole bunch of other pictures of these owls.  They are really neat.

The Story of the Caterpillar

It not really a story.  I just couldn't think of anything to say.

The caterpillar is super fast.  He is as fast as an ant.  Me and Sissy named him "Harry."  We made him a little home.  It was actually a hotel for all bugs.  While we were outside making the hotel, a spider came in and spent the night.  It seriously did.
The caterpillar tickled and he felt prickly.  Me and Sissy took him down to the hotel and then he started crawling and looking for food.  We made the hotel in a ditch in our front yard, so that a tornado wouldn't tear it up.  I made the hotel out of bark, grass, leaves, and flowers.  The caterpillar ate a little bit of the leaf.

Blue harrons

We started a bird count.  You have to count the birds and how many you see and it is super fun.  The scientists sent us this video.  You can watch it.  Poppy and Pop will love the herons.   If you look very, very closely when the Mama Heron is around the babies, she'll cough up some food.  It's called regurgitate, but I call it cough it up.
